Alibaba Injects $149 Partnering IeSF To Promote eSports Globally

It may not be surprising if someday gaming would be recognized as a sport in Olympic. Alibaba has lately partnered with International eSports Federation (IeSF) and injected an investment of around $149 million.

IeSF is the global body for eSports and is currently operating in 47 countries.

The Chinese ecommerce giant tied up with its Alisports wing that had earlier launched WESG tournament series, which henceforth will be fully endorsed by IeSF.

The two giants would jointly campaign to make eSports recognized across the world as a legitimate sport and would also boost up the competitiveness of the tournaments.

According to Alisports chief Zhang Dazhong, the company is honored to cooperate with IeSF and believes they would together promote the development of the global eSports industry.

IeSF President Byung Hun Jun said together they will maximize strength of each other and attract gamers from across the world.

IeSF was founded in 2008 in South Korea. It boasts 47 member National Federations.
