Significant terrorist attack risk has forced the Brussels mayor to cancel the annual New Year’s Eve fireworks show as well as other public celebrations in the evening.

Earlier this week the Belgian police made two arrests suspecting to be getting involved in plotting of terror attack on New Year’s Eve and it is believed the threat was serious.

The arrested men are members of Kamikaze Riders, a Muslim biker gang. They are suspected of attacking Grand Place square of Brussels and other places where crowd gather, said a senior Belgian counterterrorism official.

In the past too the Kamikaze Riders gang has been linked to terror investigations

Names of the suspects have not been released but it is briefed the two are based in the Brussels and Vilvoorde areas and have been inspired by the ISIS.

Two more arrests were made in Turkey on Wednesday over suspected links to suicide attacks being plotted by ISIS in the Turkish capital Ankara on New Year’s Eve.

After the Paris attacks on November 13 that killed more than 100 people Belgium has been on high alert.

Meanwhile, it is also found from a recovered Samsung phone about twenty-five messages were exchanged before the Paris attacks with a phone in Brussels.
