China seeking India’s support to work jointly in South Asia

China has suggested India to work jointly on projects in the development of South Asia giving example to the Sino-Indian joint projects in Afghanistan.

Chinese Ambassador to India Luo Zhaohui said while speaking in Delhi at the launch of joint Indo-China project for training Afghan diplomats the cooperation should not be limited to Afghanistan, but also in other South Asian countries like Myanmar, Maldives, Bhutan and Nepal.

He further added that the two countries to join under BCIM, BIMSTEC and SAARC mechanism and promote regional peace, prosperity and stability.

It is learned the two countries to undertake joint projects in health, education and food security in Afghanistan to improve lives of Afghans and in future to connect India with Afghanistan and China with Iran.

However, it is very clear the proposed connectivity project is excluded from Belt & Road initiative of China.

The two countries said they are against terrorism and so uphold that Afghanistan should realize peace, prosperity and stability in the region.

Later this week the Chinese state Councillor and Minister of Public Security Zhao Kezhi is scheduled to visit India. In November, Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi to meet, for the fourth time in 2018.

Meanwhile, sources have hinted India would not favor China’s inclusion in SAARC.
