Dog Friendly Hotels in Portland Oregon and Coast

Here are some of the best dog friendly hotels at popular destinations in Oregon. It’s so much fun to bring one’s pup to the dog-pampering hotels in Portland, or the salty inns of the Oregon Coast, or, maybe, to the sunny high-desert of Central Oregon. Fortunately, there are pet-friendly hotels all throughout the state.

When making hotel reservations, ask the staff about dog policies, as most hotels require advance notice for pets. Also, it’s a good idea to double-check that the hotel’s pet policies have not changed.

Pet Friendly Hotels in Portland

Portland Oregon is always on the list of best cities for dogs. And, two hotels in Downtown Portland seem to get high ratings from guests who travel with pets. Both hotels are centrally located and within walking distance of the Pearl District, Waterfront Park, and the fabulously funky Powell’s Books.

Hotel Monaco Portland

A poll at Spot Magazine (in the Pacific Northwest) has named Hotel Monaco as the most pet-friendly hotel in Portland.

This cool hotel has a yellow Labrador Retriever named Timmy who works (in the lobby) as the “Director of Pet Relations”. Timmy is the perfect host, and is good at making other dogs feel welcomed, because he was trained to be a guide dog.

The hotel’s pet amenities:

Pups have the use of a dog bed.
Dogs get spring water and treats.
For an extra fee, Hotel Monaco has a dog walker, pet masseuse, or pet psychic.

Hotel Monaco allows dogs, of any size, and there are no restrictions on the number of pets per room.

Hotel Vintage Plaza Portland

Hotel Vintage Plaza feels like a small European Hotel and is very pet-friendly. However, guests should let the staff know about their furry traveling companions, when making reservations, as some rooms are unavailable to guests with pets.

Look forward to these pet-friendly features:

Each pup is greeted by name on a chalkboard in the lobby.
Dogs get a pet mat, a bowl with spring water, and pet toys.
The receptionist takes a photo of each dog with his Doggie Daddy or Poochie Mama, then emails it to them.
Staff will help with dog walking and other friendly necessities.
Pet Friendly Oregon Coast
The Oregon coast is clean, fresh, pristine and rejuvenating. However, everyone (including some dogs) should bring a waterproof jacket because this part of the country can be cold and wet any time of year.

Cannon Beach:

Hallmark Inn and Resort in Cannon Beach is extremely dog friendly. Dogs are allowed in most of the guest rooms for $20 a night; and this hotel has a welcoming dog drinking fountain and a practical wash area (for getting the sand off a puppy’s feet).

There are lots of dog-loving places in Cannon Beach, with its laid-back small-town lifestyle. Dogs are allowed to go off-leash on the beach, but must be under voice control. (Hallmark Inns also has a place in Newport Oregon, further south on the coast.)

Central Oregon

Cricketwood B&B, in Bend Oregon, has a dog-friendly cottage. And, though dogs cannot go into the main bed-and-breakfast building, this private and romantic “Champagne Chalet” is a perfect vacation getaway; containing a kitchen, a two-person spa tub, and internet access.

There are many parks in, and around, Bend and Sunriver, and several are off-leash dog parks. In Sunriver, dogs are allowed on bike trails as long as they are on a leash. Sunriver has lots of dog-friendly rental houses, as well.
