The dog was taking out from the remains of a home where a couple lived. It was barking while coming from beneath, from deep under the debris.

Named Romeo, the Golden Retriever was spotted by the couple underneath and cried at it, “Romeo! Come!” The dog emerged wagging his tail from under the toppled concrete. Crowd cheered on the efforts.

Video footage shows the dog was pulled out from beneath the collapsed metal structural beams that shielded him on August 24 when the massive earthquake struck the region.

Rescue workers gave water to the dog to drink and he appeared to be healthy.

Rescue workers are now putting more efforts and round the clock to rescue other “Romeos.”

According to data, more than 1,000 men have been deployed by Italian Fire Department along with 571 vehicles in the areas to search for more lives.

A massive 6.1-magnitude powerful earthquake struck Italy earlier this week and killed more than 28 people, flattening entire villages. The hardest hit town was Amatrice where many buildings had collapsed and people in hundreds died. Even buildings of 14th century were crumbled.
