Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said Wednesday the upcoming vote in the European Parliament to freeze EU membership talks with Turkey has no value to them and added Europe is siding with terrorist organizations.

Speaking at the conference of Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul the president further mentioned the country has kept the stand clear that they take care of European values more than several other EU nations and still find no support from Western friends.

Erdogan said, “There will be a meeting at the European Parliament tomorrow, and they will vote on EU talks with Turkey… whatever the result, this vote has no value in our eyes.”

Earlier today some of the prominent members of the European Parliament called to halt the EU membership talks with Turkey citing the broad purges of Ankara in the wake of failed coup in July.

The government has either detained or dismissed over 125,000 people including journalists, Kurdish leaders, judges, academics and soldiers as well alleging they have backed the putsch rights groups and some of the Western allies with the intention to crush all dissent.

Erdogan however claims the measures have weakened the network of US-based cleric Fethullah Gulen.
