Facebook Activates Safety Check Following Orlando Gay Club Mass Shooting

After the mass shooting in a jam-packed Orlando gay club on Sunday that killed fifty people and injured more than half ton others Facebook activated its first Safety Check in the US allowing users to confirm about their safety if they are near to the scene.

Facebook earlier had activated the Safety Check last year in November after an extremist attack in French capital Paris too.

Facebook spokesperson said in a released statement, “Earlier this month, we began testing features that allow people to both initiate and share Safety Check on Facebook.”

The statement further read Facebook has improved the launch process over the last few months to make the feature easier for them to activate more faster and more frequently.

Earlier this year Facebook had made a mistake by sending Safety Check alert to the US users after an explosion in Pakistan.

At least fifty people were gunned down at a gay nightclub in Orlando on Sunday by an American-born man. Authorities say it is the deadliest mass shooting and the worst terror attack since 9/11 in the US
