How Deadly Was Turkey In 2016 – A Flashback (Part I)

The year 2016 was highly deadly for Turkey including a failed coup in July that killed more than two hundred people. Let’s have a look in detail throughout the year.

Aug. 20 – Gaziantep

More than 51 people were killed at a Kurdish wedding party by a suicide bomber believed to be just 12-year-old.

Aug. 18 – Elazig

More than 5 people were killed and at least 140 others were injured after a car bomb exploded at police headquarters.

Aug. 17 – Van

One police officer was killed, twenty others of them were in jured, 2 civilians died and 53 others were wounded after a car bomb exploded at a police station.

Jul. 15 – A failed military coup attempt killed more than 270 people across Turkey.

June 28 – Istanbul

Three suicide bombers stormed Ataturk Airport and killed 44 people. About 150 civilians were injured.

June 17 – Istanbul

About eleven people were killed when a car bomb exploded while a police vehicle was passing.

June 8 – Midyat

About five people wsre killed and 51 others were injured when a Kurdish suicide bomber detonated outside a police headquarters close to Syrian border.

June 7 – Istanbul

Eleven people were killed and 36 others were injured when a car bomb hit a riot police bus.

May 12 – Istanbul

Eight people were injured when a car bomb targeted a military garrison.

May 10 – Diyarbakir

Three people were killed and about half ton others were injured when a car bomb hit a police vehicle that was escorting 7 detained Kurdish militants.
