Iran is seeking to track the private and semi-private messages on messaging apps. It wants the data to be moved on Iranian servers.

Iran Wants WhatsApp Messages To Be Moved To Iranian Servers

As of now the government has no control on messaging apps including the popular WhatsApp and Telegram and also has no control what is being talked on the platforms.

Recently WhatsApp rolled out end-to-end encryption, which means even WhatsApp is unable to read the content of the messages. Those can only be read by users involved in the conversation.

Similarly the iMessage of Apple too follows encrypted messaging protocol and the company is unable to hand out details of the conversation to a government.

Telegram does not offer encryption by default, but users can activate the feature and remain out of control of a government.

Iran has already blocked several social sites and now is looking to have even more control.

It is true sites cannot be completely blocked as users can open those by installing a VPN tool and the Iranian ISPs can’t see the websites are being browsed inside the country.

In this era of high-peak technology it is simply not possible to put restrictions on internet products. There are several ways to go beyond restrictions. Share your views in the below given comment box.
