Extremist group claimed over its official online radio service Al-Bayan the couple who took part in mass shooting in San Bernardino, Calif., killing 14 people were their supporters.

However, the Islamist militants group stopped short of claiming responsibility for the attacks and went praising them without characterizing the husband and wife as their member.

According to United States officials the 27-year-old Tashfeen Malik had pledged support for the terror group as well as its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi on Facebook just ahead of the attack when she teamed up with husband, 28-year-old Syad Farook, and opened fire on a holiday party at the Inland Regional Center in the city on Wednesday.

The pair was killed by police in gun battle while trying to flee in a black SUV.

This is not the first time pledge of support has been seen for al-Baghdadi. Earlier this year, in May, Elton Simpson pledged the same in a tweet before attempting an attack in Garland, Texas.

The San Bernardino attack is being treated as a federal terrorist investigation, said FBI Director James Comey on Friday.

Comey added link has not yet found whether the couple was member of the Islamist militants group Isis (Islamic States of Syria and Iraq).
