The threat of ISIS on Europe is more than what was earlier assessed amid police widening up hunt for accomplices in the recent Belgium blasts that killed 31 people, said a top European security official.

Chief of Europol, Rob Wainwright, said more aggressive posture has been adopted by the Islamic State toward Europe and about 5,000 suspects have been radicalized here and traveled to Syria to fight. Several have returned too by now.

BBC writes citing Wainwright the threats are not just limited to Belgium and France, but many other European countries too. In about past one decade the current threats are the most serious one.

On the request of Belgian authorities the Interpol has issued a red notice too for one of the suspects of the Brussels attacks.

Meanwhile, Secretary of State John. F Kerry is learned to be visiting Brussels on Friday while returning from Moscow trip.

Brussels was attacked on the morning of 22 March by three coordinated nail bombings at an airport and a subway station. The explosions killed 31 people and about 300 others were injured. Islamic State of Syria and Iraq took the responsibility of the deadliest attacks in the history of Belgium after World War II. Three days of national mourning were declared.

After the attacks raids and searches were conducted across the country amid heightened security in several other countries too including France and United States.
