Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was on a five-day parole for the funeral of wife Begum Kulsoom, who breathed last a week ago in London suffering from cancer. His parole is not extended and is set to return to jail.

Sharif’s daughter Maryam and son-in-law Capt (retd) M Safdar too are to return to Rawalpindi’s Adiala the jail.

The three are currently serving jail term after being convicted in a corruption case in July by an accountability court related to purchase of properties in London. They were sent to jail two months ago.

They were released on Thursday and will be flown back via a special flight from the Lahore airport.

According to media report Hamza Shehbaz, Salman and Yousuf Abbas, three members of the family, have been granted permission to accompany Sharif and Maryam inside the Lahore airport.

The report adds, Shehbaz, Sharif’s younger brother, can accompany the three on the special flight.

It is not yet know whether extension of parole was requested. PML-N leader Tanveer Hussain however denied reports of any extension request.

However, the Punjab government extended by four days and it expires on Monday at 12 am.

Sharif’s wife was laid to rest on Friday at the Jati Umra residence in Lahore and beside the graves of her father-in-law Mian Sharif and brother-in-law Abbas Sharif.
