It is a good news in the medical world and also for those who have a dementia patient at home. New report finds the disease is ddecreasing.

New Report Suggests Dementia Cases Declining

The exact cause is not known, but it is true dementia is on the decline. A new analysis of health says so based on the records from thousands of people in Massachusetts towns.

The report of Framingham Heart Study suggests from the analysis of 5,200 people the disease is declining reflecting national trend in the US and other developed countries.

The rate of decline was 3.6 percent in late 1970s and early 1980s. During the late 2000s and early 2010s the decrease was 2 percent and now the drop is astonishing 44 percent.

Details of the study are published in The New England Journal of Medicine.

Epidemiologist Dallas Anderson from National Institute on Aging said, “It’s very good news… We’re seeing one generation after another where the risk is going down.”

The study report adds greatest decrease in the disease was in vascular dementia.

When the blood vessels carrying oxygen to brain is damage results with vascular dementia.

It is also found care for people who suffered strokes too improved.

Current data reveals about 5.3 million people in the US are suffering from dementia.

One in three people in the US die out of the disease.
