Mushtaq Ghani, spokesman of Pakistan government, said shutting down of schools across the country was part of national mourning and also a precaution against terror attacks in the country.

The anniversary ceremony was attended by families of victims, survivors as well as the authorities from the government. It was presided by Pakistan’s army chief Raheel Sharif.

Wednesday’s ceremony was held at the same school that was attacked last year on December 16 by millitant group Tehrik-i-Taliban. It was attended by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif too.

Survivors of the attack and family members of such as well as of the dead marched with signs bearing names and photos of the killed.

Terrorism has become a global threat and is limited to any country or region. The Islamic State militant group, also known as ISIS or ISIL, is based in Syria and Iraq is most active and most dangerous followed by Taliban, Boko Haram and others.

More than 100 people were killed last month on November 13 in multiple terror attacks in French capital Paris by the ISIS. It was followed by attack in San Barnardino, California, by a couple inspired by Taliban and ISIS jihadist that killed 14 innocent people. An estimate reveals thousands of people are killed in a year across the global by terror acts.
