A suicide bomber killed more than three dozen people in Baghdad’s bustling market on Monday and injured at least half ton others.

The Islamic State linked bomber drove a pickup loaded with explosives and hit a fruit and vegetable market packed with day lobrers hours after French President Francois Hollande arrived the Iraqi capital.

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said the man who drove the pickup pretended to be seeking to hire day laborers and detonated the explosives after workers gathered around.

The Islamic State terror group has taken credit of the attack that took place in Sadr City by publishing a statement on a website used often by them.

Sadr is a vast Shiite district in eastern Baghdad and the place is repeatedly targeted by Sunni extremists since the invasion of United States army way back in 2003.

Dead bodies were seen scattered across the pavement. Ambulances arrived to evacuate the place.

A local said they are having the most ineffective security forces in the world.

The 40-year-old and father of four further said, “We have no idea who will kill at any moment and who’s supposed to protect us… IF the securities forces can’t protect us, then allow us to do the job.”
