The Trump Administration has decided not to fund any more to United Nations Palestine Refugee Agency (UNRWA) for the Palestinian refugee and want to reduce the number of people taking shelter from 5 million to just 500,000.

State Department Spokesperson Heathre Nauert said US will not make any additional contribution to the agency alleging alleging it to be “irredeemably flawed”.

She added, “The fundamental business model and fiscal practices that have marked UNRWA for years — tied to UNRWA’s endlessly and exponentially expanding community of entitled beneficiaries — is simply unsustainable and has been in crisis mode for many years.”

US is the leading donor to UNRWA and in January this year the country made a contribution of $60 million.

She further said US is concerned about the Palestinian school children as the UNRWA has failed to give them proper education and it is obvious the younger ones deserve better service provision model.

It is learned an intense dialogue would be carried out by the US with United Nations, Palestinian refugees host governments and international stakeholders. The talks could be direct bilateral assistance to help in providing the children a more dependable and durable path towards a good future.

Meanwhile, UN has regretted the decision of US saying the country had been the largest single contributor to the agency and over the years they have appreciated its support, but it is not true the children are not getting high-quality education.
