Vienna Cites Intelligence Report On Possible Terror Attacks Across European Cities

Vienna police released a statement Saturday about possible terrorist attacks on cities across Europe during the New Year holidays.

Citing unnamed friendly intelligence the statement fails to mention any specific city that may be attacked with gun shots or bombing. Several names of potential attackers have been released too but investigation has not managed to find any concrete results with those.

Austrian authorities said security measures have been increased and surveillance has been tightened with proper identity checks and alertness for objects suspected to be carrying explosives.

France is already on high alert after last month’s terror attacks in capital city Paris. Last week its interior minister Bernard Cazeneuve had instructed police and security forces to be more vigilant at festive church services.

German Interior Ministry spokesman said they too have increased their security measures following the Paris attacks of November as the country is still in the crosshairs of Jihadist terrorism.

Meanwhile, the French National Police said about 50,000 police officers have been deployed for security reasons at sensitive sites during the holidays period between December 19 and January 4. It further adds to be recruiting more 2,000 police officers next month.
