Zika virus is more of concern now by the World Health Organization (WHO). It has issued warning Friday for pregnant women from across the world not to visit Zika affected zones.

Last month the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) too warned the same as the virus is linked with birth defects.

WHO said the Zika virus may be linked to microcephaly in newborns and its new alert is a precautionary travel advice.

The international organization further added, “Women who are pregnant should discuss their travel plans with their health care provider and consider delaying travel to any area where locally acquired Zika infection is occurring.”

As of now there is no vaccine available for Zika virus and WHO is helping coordinate efforts in developing it and also supporting for better tests of the disease.

As Zika is closely related to dengue and yellow fever, vaccines may soon be developed.

It is to note here vaccine for yellow fever is available for decades and that of dengue is in final test phase.

According to WHO’s Dr. Marie-Paule Kieny, about fifteen companies and groups have been identified to work on developing vaccines for Zika virus
