After a new deal struck with President Alassane Ouattara the Ivory Coast soldiers have returned to barracks bringing to end the short-lived mutiny that suffered businesses and threatened fast-growing economy.

Ivory Coast has been transformed into one of the world’s fastest growing economy. The country is world’s top cocoa producer.

Spokesman for the mutineers said the president amended the rejected deal overnight.

In the nationwide mutiny businesses were closed and major roads were shut. At least two people were killed and one was wounded.

Civilians heavily criticized the government for the mutiny saying if it was predetermined giving money would sold the problem, the step was supposed to be taken earlier and the mutiny could have been avoided.

The government agreed to make immediate payout of $8,400 to each soldier and also an additional 2 million CFA francs in June.

In January this year the president paid 5 million CFA francs to end an uprising and failed to pay properly the remaining promised money due to collapse in world cocoa prices.

Government spokesman Bruno Kone said after a cabinet meeting an agreement has been reached with the soldiers for good of the country and to continue the post-war rise.
