Russia To Step Up Support For Nigeria To Fight Against Boko Haram

Russia has lately committed more support to Nigeria in terms of fight against Boko Haram. Ministers of both the countries met today in capital Moscow to discuss on ending instability in African countries.

Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov said the country will be putting more efforts and giving more attention to the issues and to improve security as well as stability in not only Nigeria, but in other African countries too.

Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama manwhile also urged international community to increase support for the country in their fight against insurgency.

Both the ministers spoke at a joint press conference in the city.

The Nigerian minister is currently on a visit to Russia to attend Africa day. He also met Russian Minister of Agriculture Alexander Tkachev to discuss how to improve the agriculture sector and expand agro products trade exchange between the two countries.

Levrov said the country will step up support to fight against Boko Haram.

He added, “Russia is consistently promoting solution to African problems. We want to eliminate instability on the continent.”

The discussion between both the ministers was not limited to Nigeria, but they exchanged opinions on issues ongoing in Libya, Middle East and Syria too.
