UK travelers have been banned to have unprotected sex in Florida as the authorities are concerned about the risk of contracting the Zika virus.

Four Zika cases have been found in Florida and are said to have contaminated from local mosquitoes.

The Public Health England has further advised its citizens, particularly couples, to use condoms for eight weeks after returning from the popular holiday destination as beyond the period the Zika virus may not spread.

Pregnant women are suggested to postpone trips to Florida if it is not very much required as Zika virus is highly dangerous for them.

The Zika virus causes severe birth defects. It can also cause miscarriage.

Several travel agents in the UK have lately started offering pregnant women the option of changing destination for free.

The government said, “At present, only a zone of about one square mile in Miami-Dade County is considered at risk of active transmission.”

According to European Centre for Disease Control the moderate risk areas are Florida, Guinea-Bissau, Indonesia and the Philippines where as the high risk areas are in South and Central America.

Zika is usually contracted with mosquito bites, but it can also be transmitted through sexual contact.
