UK Would Continue Being Strong Partner In EU: May

British Prime Minister Theresa May said from his first trip to EU summit in Brussels as PM the United Kingdom would continue being a strong partner in the bloc.

May is seeking to have smooth relations at the two-day summit in the presence of EU leaders amid mounting pressure to layout her vision of future of Britain in terms of relationship with EU post Brexit.

The PM said, “The U.K. is leaving the EU but we will continue to play a full role until we leave, and we’ll be a strong and dependable partner after we have left.”

Weeks after UK voted in favor of Brexit in July this year Theresa May became the prime minister with stepping down of David Cameron.

Briefing to media on Thursday in Brussels the PM said she is working closely with the bloc leaders for the interests of both the UK as well as EU.

The EU summit in Brussles is expected to focus mainly on trade and Syrian war. Many believe Brexit would take a back seat at the meet.

The Article 50 for the withdrawal of Britain from EU is expected to be triggered by March 2017 and ahead of it May is putting efforts to negotiate UK’s position.

The PM is seeking to establish goodwill from the European counterparts.
