At least six people travellers including a 6-year-old child were injured earlier today when a 27-year-old Swiss man attacked a train in eastern Switzerland at St. Gallen.

According to police statement, the attacker poured flammable liquids on the train being armed with a knife at 2:20 p.m. local time near to Salez station bordering with Liechtenstein, police said.

Three women aged 17, 34 and 43 were wounded apart from two men aged 17 and 50. Some of the injuries are reported to be serious.

The attacker poured inflammable liquid on one woman that resulted catching fire coming into contact with oxygen.

Motive of the attacker is yet to be known. Switzerland’s 20 Minuten newspaper writes police has not linked it with act of terrorist.

Fire department responded immediately. Three rescue helicopters, three ambulances, two emergency doctors and railroad authorities were deployed.

The attack left the train damaged too and it is estimated to be about 100,000 Swiss francs ($103,000).

Earlier this year in July, Afghani refugee attacked a German train and wounded four tourists. Before fleeing attempt and getting shot and killed by police he stabbed a woman too.

Last year some armed men opened fire on Amsterdam-Paris high-speed train. However, he was taken under control by two young American soldiers.
