84 Pregnant Women In Florida Infected With Zika Virus: Health Officials

Florida lately confirmed 84 pregnant women have been infected with the Zika virus.

Speaking at a forum at the University of Miami the Health officials said infected women must speak publicly about it to draw attention to the virus.

Doctors added only one woman has so far spoken publicly about the issue in the state.

The forum was held just after a day of a baby born at Jackson Memorial Hospital to an infected woman and has microcephaly, which is the most feared effect of the virus.

Doctors are expecting spike in the number of babies born to such women in near future and until now 56 cases are said to have been locally transmitted in Florida.

The officials added most of the locally transmitted cases are seen in Miami Dade County and about 600 other cases are from travel.

Florida has issued an order to health workers to test all pregnant women for Zika virus even though if they don’t have symptoms.
