All nations support Venezuelan, democracy, Guaido: Pompeo

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo urged all nations to support people in Venezuela as they are trying to get freedom from the illegitimate mafia state of President Nicholas Maduro.

Addressing during a UN Security Council meeting on Saturday he added Washington is supporting opposition leader Juan Guaido as legitimate president of the country as lately he has declared himself as acting president.

Pompeo continued, “We’re here to urge all nations to support the democratic aspirations of Venezuelan people as they try to free themselves from former President Maduro’s illegitimate mafia state.”

The Secretary of State further said ninety percent Venezuelan lives in poverty, three millions have been forced to flee resulting with flooding the region, millions of people have no access to drinking water and seventy-five percent hospitals have been abandoned.

He urged the international community to pick a side in Venezuela as this is the time to act without any delay and without any more games.

Pompeo said, “Either you stand with the forces of freedom, or you’re in league with Maduro and his mayhem.”

He added just Iran, Syria, Russia and China have taken the side of Maduro and Washington is trying to make the Council speak one voice of supporting democracy in Venezuela.

Meanwhile, France, Germany and Spain too have lately joined to recognize Guaido as legitimate president of the country.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s spokeswoman tweeted, “the people of Venezuela must be able to freely and securely decide about its future.”
