Article 370 is India’s internal issue: Bangladesh

Bangladesh talked about regional peace and stability in South Asia on Wednesday saying stripping of Article 370 from the Constitution is India’s internal matter.

Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited Bangladesh on Tuesday to have a talk with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and other top leaders of the country.

Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement following the meeting saying, “Bangladesh maintains that the abrogation of Article 370 by the Indian Government is an internal issue of India.”

India revoked Article 370 on August 5 that provides special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Following the surprising and shocking move of BJP-led Narendra Modi government tensions with Pakistan spiked.

India said the abrogation of Article 370 is an internal matter of India and Kashmir is a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan and so no third-party need to mediate.

Meanwhile, United States President Donald Trump has lately described the situation in Kashmir as explosive as well as complicated due to religious differences.

He added, “will do the best I can to mediate or do something (to defuse Kashmir crisis between the two nations).”

Trump will be meeting Modi at the G7 summit in French city Biarritz over the weekend and Kashmir issue could be discussed.

Lately he had telephonic talks with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and Modi separately.
