British Islamic scholar Farrokh Sekaleshfar is now under scrutiny. His Australian visa is being reviewed by authorities as earlier this year he had toured Orlando and in 2013 he had preached “death is the sentence” for homosexual acts.

The senior Shi’ite Muslim scholar is currently in Sydney and giving a series of lectures at an Islamic center on topic of spirituality.

In his 2013 lecture in Michigan he said those homosexuals who are engaged in sodomy should get death penalty.

Sekaleshfar added, “Out of compassion, let’s get rid of him now, because he’s contaminating society.”

However, as of now no link has been found between his preaching and the American Muslim man who attacked a gay club in Orlando early Sunday and killed 49 innocent people.

Sekaleshfar condemned the shooting, the deadliest mass shooting in the US, on Monday saying the act was of barbaric nature and was not justified.

Meanwhile, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Tumbull said he has “”zero tolerance for people to come to Australia who preach hatred.”

The lecture that he had delivered in 2013 was in context to Islamic law and homosexuality, said Sekaleshfar.

He added, “There is nothing to be embarrassed about this. Death is the sentence.”
