Brazilian Police Searching 30 Suspects Of Gang Rape Of 16-Year-Old Girl

An alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old girl over the weekend in a Rio de Janeiro slum has shocked Brazil after the suspects have posted graphic video and images of her on Twitter.

The Brazilian police are currently searching about thirty perpetrators and it is said at least four people have been so far identified who were involved in the incident.

One of the identified men seen in the video appears to be the boyfriend of the girl and two more people have been heard in the clip.

No arrest warrants have yet been issued and the police has not spoken to the identified men too while the investigation is under process.

The police added at a press conference on Friday they are also investigating the possible violations of Brazil’s Internet laws apart from the rape allegations.

Head of the civil police in Rio de Janeiro, Fernando Veloso, said the police as well as people are shocked at the extreme violence.

Meanwhile, the incident has been condemned by Interim President Michel Temer and he has called for an emergency meeting of security chiefs on Tuesday from all the states of the country.

He said, “It is absurd that still in the 21st century we have to live with barbaric crimes like this.”
