JMM leader Hemant Soren may claim to power today and Congress spokesperson Pranav Jha said people wanted to get rid of the BJP from Jharkhand.

Hemant Soren won his Barhait seat. He said this is victory of the people towards making a socially inclusive equitable state.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated the alliance.

Bharatiya Janata Party faced revolt ahead of the elections when senior party leader Saryu Roy filed nomination against chief minister Raghubar Das from Jamshedpur East. For two decades he had represented the Jamshedpur West. BJP denied ticket to him this time.

In 2009 assembly elections BJP had won six seats while JMM was limited to 4. In 2014 BJP was cut to five seats while JMM jumped to seven.
