Sate-run news agency Anadolu said citing local officials the blast can be an act of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK)

PKK has been in fight with the Turkish government for decades demanding an independent state citing the Kurds represent largest ethic group in the country with a population of around 20 percent.

The attack took place at Cevizlik gendarmerie police station in Mardin.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but in the past the PKK had targeted military and police in their attacks. In general the Kurds does not target civilians.

Couple of weeks ago a major attack on the main airport of Istanbul killed 44 people. The Islamic State claimed credit for it.

A peach process between the government and PKK failed last year and it followed with fresh clashes in southeastern part of the country.

Tensions spiked after Turkish forces imposed controversial curfews in their cities.
