France Has Closed Several Mosques Since December 2015

French interior minister said those who incite hatred in mosques or in prayer halls will not get place in France.

Following the meet with leaders of the French Council of the Muslim Religion Bernard Cazeneuve added further about twenty mosques have been shut down and there will be more coming under similar orders.

Since 2012 eighty people have been expelled from the country and more deportations will be taking place.

Currently there are about 2,500 mosques and prayer halls in the country and some 120 of those are alleged to be preaching radical Salafism, which means a strict Sunni interpretation of Islam.

French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said today the country may not guarantee freedom of Islam.

He said, “If Islam is not helping the Republic to fight against those who undermine public freedoms, it will be increasingly hard for the Republic to guarantee this freedom of worship.”

Head of the French Muslim Council, Anouar Kbibech, said they have plans of creating a foundation and help finance construction of mosques in the country.
