Israeli Spy Jonathan Pollard Freed On Parole And Condition From US Prison After 30 Years

Convicted spy Jonathan Pollard was released today morning from a North Carolina prison after 30 years under parole. His freedom is now under condition and he need to wear an electronic bracelet to make the agencies easier in monitoring his movements.

His lawyers said the conditions are unreasonable and also illegal. He can’t move to foreign countries including Israel where he is seen as a hero. The conditions were called as onerous and oppressive.

Born in Galveston of Texas in 1954, Pollard .spied for Israel whilie being a Navy intelligence analyst in the US. In 1987 he pleaded guilty for passing information to Israel.

Pollard’s ex-wife Anne said she had been waiting for this day and it is an amazing moment for her.

According to Jerusalem Post, the 61-year-old cannot leave US for another five years and he strictly cannot be going to Israel for which he had requested. Pollard is also barred of giving interviews

Outside the prison Pollard was greeted by his wife Ester. Both headed towards Manhattan for a Shabbat dinner party.

He was arrested on November 21, 1985, after trying to gain asylum at the Israeli Embassy in Washington.
