Jihadi Threats Being Reviewed By Brazil's Intelligence Agency Ahead Of Rio Olympics

SITE Intelligence Group said the Jihadi messaging channel on Telegram app recently called for attacks against the Rio 2016 Games and the methods as well as the targets of the attacks.

The group added message was posted to “Inspire the Believers!”

The message is quoted as, “Lone wolf from anywhere in the world can move to Brazil now.”

The security experts meanwhile said the country has no jihadi activity history and also there is no established terror network. This makes attacking Olympics complex difficult for the terror militant group.

International security director at the Asia Pacific Foundation, Sajjan Gohel, said the concern has been taken seriously and Brazilian authorities have been doing everything possible.

It is reported about 85,000 police, soldiers and firefighters would be deployed in Rio during the Games and the figure is twice the number deployed in London in the last Olympic.

There were 500,000 original applications for Olympic accreditation and out of it four people have been rejected due to suspected links to terrorism.
