Authorities didn’t identify the son Caleb Thomas Schwab initially, but later Kansas state Rep. Scott Schwab and his wife revealed through a released statement that added, “Since the day he was born, he brought abundant joy to our family and all those he came in contact with.”

According to Schlitterbahn spokeswoman Winter Prosapio, the water slide was 168 feet tall named Verruckt and it is one of the main attractions of the park. It has 264 stairs that lead to the top.

Verruckt means insane in German. The water slide was certified as the tallest in the world by Guinness World Records. It has multi-person rafts and rider must be at least four-and-half feet tall.

No specific detail has yet been revealed by the officials about what was the cause of death of the boy, but it is said the family was present at the park on Sunday.

The park authorities have announced shut down of the park for two days – Sunday and Monday.

Prosapio added, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.”

The park authorities initially said the boy was 12 years old, but later spokesman of the family said he was just 10.
