Jammu and Kashmir cannot be restored to normalcy overnight and reasonable time is to be given to the government to pave the path towards peace without loss of lives, said apex court on Tuesday hearing a petition from activist Tehseen Poonawalla.

On request to make Center pass on order to restore essential services like schools, police stations and hospitals, the Supreme Court asked if something happens in the Valley, who would be blamed.

Adding further the court said nobody can take a chance of even one percent in the Valley.

Meanwhile, the Bench of Justices Arun Mishra, M.R. Shah and Ajay Rastogi have agreed to wait and watch the goings for about two weeks as interfering now is not rational considering the sensitiveness of the region.

About restoring of communications and lifting of curfew the attorney General K.K. Venugopal said government will decide on it and ground situation is being monitored on a daily basis, but some of the restrictions are being eased everyday.

He added the aftermath of death of Hizb-ul- Mujahideen ‘commander’ Burhan Wani in 2016 by the security forces in the Valley resuled with violence and it took months to reach normality.

Venugopal further said the current situation would be resolved within days, but subjective to several factors in store.

“Nobody has the perfect and whole picture of the situation now,” said Justice Shah.
