Netflix Partners Comcast

The new service will be made available into the X-1 box, which is billed by Comcast as its next-gen platform to offer its customers seamless viewing experience.

A joint statement of both the companies said the service under their new partnership will be made available later this year as they have much work to do ahead of it and more details will be made available then.

Neither of the companies detailed the exact terms of the deal.

There was bed long-standing tension between them as both competed for viewers and to have different visions for the future of video entertainment.

Earlier in 2012 Comcast was blamed by Netflix CEO Reed Hastings for favoring its own web video service over similar streaming providers and this was something related to violation of net neutrality.

Hastings then had also opposed the merger of Comcast-Time-Warner publicly.

In recent years Netflix managed in gaining subscribers despite wide opposition from mainstream cable providers. It also had grabbed deals with some of the most popular shows. The latest one is with multi-year agreement with The CW to continue streaming Jane The Virgin, The Flash, Supergirl and others.
