Five Nigerian pilgrims have died in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, but the identities and cause have not yet been known.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Abdullahi Mohammed, confirmed the deaths on Tuesday at the 2017 pre-Arafat meeting with Hajj stakeholders, pleading to the media to withhold the details to help not to devastate the families of the victims.

Official data reveals a total of 81,200 pilgrims from Nigeria are performing hajj this year and all of them have converged to the Islam’s holiest city.

it is also learned some of the Nigerian pilgrims landed in Mecca directly after flying through Jeddah.

On Wednesday all the pilgrims will visit city of Mina and spend eve of 8th of Dhul-Hijah and thereafter to Arafat on the next day where they will praise the almighty Allah and recite the Islamic holy book Quran.

Meanwhile, it is also learned the Nigerian first lady, Mrs Aisha Buhari, too has left for Mecca from Nigeria to perform this year’s Hajj.

Aisha’s personal assistant Zaynab Ikaz-Kassim tweeted, “”This Afternoon H.E. Mrs @aishambuhari left Abuja for Mecca.”

The first lady recently returned to Nigeria from London after visiting her husband, who was on medical leave. She thanked all the Nigerians for their pray and concern for the president.
