By mid-October Paris will be ready with its first urban camps for refugees and another will be followed later this year.

Paris Announces Making Two Urban Refugee Camps This Year

The announcement came from Mayor Anne Hidalgo just hours after an uninhabited migrant camp in Essonne, south of Paris, was seen ablaze overnight.

Hidalgo said the first camp will come up on the northern fringe of the city and it will be designed to accommodate 400 refugees for short term. More 200 beds will be added in near future.

The new camp is said to be also offering services to homeless newly arrive migrants like legal aid, social care, psychological and health care.

The mayor added, “In the past two years, Paris has experienced an unprecedented flow of migrants. Every day, dozens of migrants arrive on our territory.”

It is learned makeshift camps are dangerous as well as unhealthy. Many migrants are living under such shameful conditions and this has become a source of disturbance for other residents in the area.

The second camp will be set up in the southeast part of Paris and to serve the most vulnerable groups like single women, children and families.
