Texas Officer Critically Wounded In Shootout Responding Suicide Attempt

Two officers in Texas have been wounded, one in critical condition, in a shootout that was erupted while responding to a suicide attempt.

At around 8:30 p.m. on Friday officers Ray Acuna and Xavier Serrano reached a home where a man was found lying unresponsive and having a gunshot injuries on his head in south Fort Worth, without knowing some was hiding into the backyard.

When the two went backyard to open a shed door shooting started unexpectedly injuring one of the officers several times in the torso.

Both the officers managed returning fire. For hours it was not clear whether the shooter was live or dead.

Later, just before midnight it was officially reported the suspect was shot dead.

Both the officers were hospitalized immediately and one was bearing serious injuries.

Fort Worth Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald visited the hospital later along with family members.

Fitzgerald said, “We ask that you send your prayers and support and keep these officers in the forefront of your minds.”
