Theresa May To Discuss CTA And Other Issues With Ireland Aiming Better Brexit

After becoming PM May has been busy having one-to-one meetings with European Union (EU) leaders to discuss the best possible interest of UK leaving the bloc.

Earlier she met German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande too.

UK has strong trade link with Ireland and the meeting with the two PMs is expected to focus on the implications of Brexit on it as well as the future of common travel area (CTA).

UK and Ireland have open borders arrangement since the 1920s.

After Britain voted in favor of Brexit questions were raised about the future of CTA that allows people from both the countries to cross borders with minimal checks.

Post Brexit the border between the two nations is said to become UKs land frontier with the EU. Many believe stricter measures will be followed.

May said clear objectives must be mapped by Britain with Ireland and other countries in the bloc before Article 50 is triggered to frame out hard lines for the exit of Britain from EU.
